Percy and Edwin Warner Parks

Collectively known as the Warner Parks, Percy Warner Park and Edwin Warner Park are Tennessee’s two major parks. Warner Parks are operated by Metropolitan Board of the Parks. These parks were donated to David County for the recreation of its residents. The Edwin Warner Park and Percy Warner Parks are close to each. With the Old Hickory Boulevard separating these two parks, these are situated approximately 9 miles from downtown of Nashville and bounded by Tennessee’s Route 100 on the northwest, by Checkering Road on the east and on the north, and partly by Vaughn Road and Old Hickory Boulevard South Side. If combined, both parks will make the largest municipality in United States and will cover an area of 2,684 acres or 1,086.2 ha. In 1984, the parks were registered into the national Register of Historic Places.

Percy and Edwin Warner Parks first operated in 1927. Percy Warner Lea and her husband, Luke donated a piece of land converted for recreation and later on became the Percy and Edwin Parks. These two were named after Edwin’s father, Percy, who was an associate of the originally organized Nashville Board of Park Commissioners and formerly head of the city's streetcar lines as well as its electric utility, while the name Edwin was taken from his uncle’s name, who was another park commissioner.

The Warner Parks feature horseback riding, cycling, hiking, golf, biking, and other variety of nature activities. In the park, you can find unpaved trails through the woods that are ideal for hiking while enjoying the huge outdoors. Mountain biking is not allowed here because it panics the horses on the trails though the trail is great for biking. The parks also boasts of several covered picnic areas, which you can find in the main loop and a battlement trail for horses, a golf course, and attractive woods that make you feel far away from the city of Nashville.
