The settlement known as Fort Nashborough was built way back 1780 by the first Nashville residents who settled in the area. It existed for over 12 years since it’s the time it was build. It serves as housing and protection to the first Nashville family settlers from the constant threat of attacks launched by the local Native Americans in the place. The replica of Fort Nashborough, found at Riverfront Park reminds us of the early frontier life in the state.
Today’s Fort Nashborough is an authentic replica of the original settlement created. The five log cabins which was carefully recreated to match the originals, costumed interpreters which give visitors a sense of the settlers' lives before the city of Nashville was officially founded and many more. A display of the statues of the founding fathers created by a renowned Nashville artist Puryear Mims can also be seen here. These structures are found just outside the fort. At present, we can say that there are not a lot to see in this place but it is still worth a quick visit anyway for it still has its historical value. Admission to the fort is free. All who wishes to experience Nashville’s past are welcome all throughout the year.
