The Frist Center for the Visual Arts was founded in April 2001. This brings world-class art exhibits to the historic downtown Nashville post office building. The Frist Center for the Visual Art is a non-profit center. It does not sustain a permanent or specific collection from the state but rather it exhibits art collections from around the world. On the 2nd floor of the center you will find the Art Quest Gallery. The displays of a variety of art experiences through more than 30 interactive multimedia stations in the gallery promotes for anyone to travel around the world. Surely, those creative kids and adults alike can enjoy and spend their productive hours in this part of the center.
The center has a family-friendly environment wherein families who visit the center gain knowledge about and appreciate art together. It is also a good place to have a family bonding. The Frist Center for the Visual Art hosts a number of rotating visual art exhibits throughout the year which lasts approximately six to eight weeks. A permanent feature of the center is Frist's Art Quest Gallery which an interactive, hands-on space that allows children to travel around visual art concepts. Many of these children can relate to the existing exhibitions offered by the center. Aside from learning and practicing basic techniques, it is an opportunity for the children to acquire knowledge about art, what it means and how art is part of our society. The Frist Center also contains a gift shop, which to buy books about art, art supplies, pretty jewelry, and many more. It also has a café where visitors, families and children can eat and relax, especially after the tour around the center.
