Now, popularly known as the CMA Music Festival, was an event conceived in 1972. It started when DJ’s of the country gathered in a convention and some die-hards to these DJ’s would come just to get a quick look on their favorites. Today, the activities programmed during the CMA Music Festival aims that a fan will meet his/her favorite celebrity. There are indoor as well as outdoor activities arranged for purposes of fan-celebrity bonding and mingling. These come usually in a form of parties organized by celebrity fans clubs for its members and celebrity. Picture taking with the celebrity is one of the highlights of these parties.
The event was previously called Fan Fair then it was changed to CMA Music Festival because CMA realized that the name Fan Fair was no longer fit as the name of the event. With the change in name came, the change in venue followed. It was taken out from Tennessee State Fairgrounds and brought to Downtown Nashville starting year 2001. Starting also that year Fan Fair started to be known as CMA Music Festival. The organizers widen not only the venue but also the activities of the festival to cater to the growing audience of all ages and people of varied interests. Some music events that happen during the CMA Music Festival are the following: celebrity competitions, autograph signing, sporting events at the Sport Zone and demonstrations. Some celebrities are singing and performing for the fans usually stars of famous daytime soap operas. In addition to the fun, cooking demonstrations are also held together with giving of free product samples from various sponsors to the audience.
